Now we're entering the warmer months I've began to change up my everyday make up a bit. I've also purchased a lot of new make up in the last couple months since my last every day make up post. Below is what I am currently using on a daily basis and listed in the order I apply them.
Primer: Benefit That Gal Brightening Face Primer
Foundation: Revlon Nearly Naked in Ivory 110 applied using the Real Techniques Buffing brush
Concealer: Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in Ivory
Powder: Rimmel Stay Matte in Transparent
Bronzer: The Body Shop Honey Bronzer in 02 applied with the Real Techniques Multi Task Brush
Blush: Benefit Dandelion from the Benefit Do The Bright Thing make up kit applied with the Real Techniques Blush brush
Eye Shadow: Maybelline Color Tattoo in 100 Barely Beige

The Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation and Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer are new additions to my routine in the past couple weeks and so far I've been impressed. I'm sure you'll see a review of them both up in the coming weeks.
Do you use any of these products, if so what are you thoughts on them? Hope you're all having a great start to the week. Check back for a new post tomorrow morning.

Drugstore Haul
Today I have a little drugstore haul to share with you. I've done a little bit of shopping over the past week so I thought I'd show you all. I've been wanting to try the Rimmel London Wake Me Up Concealer for ages but it's not exactly cheap in NZ. When I was in The Warehouse the other day I noticed they had 25% all Rimmel products making it only $12.74 so thought I'd pick it up. I got it in the shade 001 Ivory. There's heaps of bloggers and youtubers out there that rave about this products so I hope it lives up to the hype, I'll let you know my thoughts on it in a review in a month or so.
The second thing I picked up was the Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation in 110 Ivory. I was in need of a new foundation and this one seems to be popular so I thought I'd give it a try. It's not very cheap in NZ but I struggle to get foundation in a light enough shade for me but this ones perfect, definitely one for the pale girls out there. I got this from Farmers for $33.95.
I also picked up one of the Relvon Colorstay Gel Envy nail polishes and the Diamond Top Coat too. These are currently two for $24 at Farmers so I thought I'd give them a go. This shade is Up the Ante which I've seen Estee from Essiebutton wearing a lot and thought it'd be perfect for spring/summer. I don't actually own many purple polishes so this lovely bright purple is a welcome addition to my collection.
Let me know any of your thoughts on these products in the comments down below. Later on in the week I'll be sharing my Spring Everyday Make Up which includes this foundation and concealer.

Recently Read #1
If I Stay, by Gayle Forman - 4/5
If I Stay is a really interesting book and I very quickly went looking for the sequel after finishing it. It's a quick read which touches on love and family as a tragedy plays out to the readers. It is written from a interesting point of view which at first I was sure about but I actually enjoyed it. If I Stay is also a movie which has just released on DVD in most countries. I'm reading the sequel now so I'll let you know what I think about that once I'm finished.
Gone Girl, by Gillian Flynn - 5/5
I'm sure you all would have heard of this book by now, if you've not heard of the book I'm sure you've heard of the movie. I am yet to see the movie but I'm sure it'll be amazing because the book definitely was. Every time I thought I knew what was happening there was yet another twist, making me completely rethink what was actually going on. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am dying to see the movie now.
We Were Liars, by E. Lockhart - 4/5
We Were Liars is a very cleverly written book which keeps you thinking right till the very end. It's another quick read which I never wanted to put down, if I remember right it only took me two days to read this book which is pretty quick for me. I would definitely recommend this book if you're looking for a quick read.
The Storyteller, by Jodi Picoult - 4/5
Jodi Picoult is hands down one of my favourite authors, I don't think I've ever read one of her books and not enjoyed it. The Storyteller is about a girl called Sage Singer who befriends Josef Weber, a local man from her town. If you have read any Jodi Picoult novels you will know that she swaps between the characters point of view, I really enjoy books where chapters swap from character to character. Some of the chapters in this novel that were set during the Holocaust, they were from Sage's grandmothers point of view and we find out that she actually knew Josef. Sage's grandmother is a Holocaust survivor and Josef was a Nazi SS guard.

Skincare - LUSH Fresh Farmacy Cleanser
If you've seen my previous skincare routine post, you'll know I'm a big fan of LUSH skincare. The first cleanser I tried from LUSH was Herbalism which I still love but I felt like it was time for a change so I picked up Fresh Farmacy. Fresh Farmacy comes in a block which can be cut up into smaller pieces, it's similar to a block of soap. I tend to cut mine up into small pieces and keep a piece in a plastic container in the shower.
This cleanser leaves my face feeling squeaky clean and smooth. I use it twice a day in the shower, I just wet face in the shower and then rub it onto my face then massaging it in with my fingers and wash it off. I've been using this for a month or two now and I have had hardly any breakouts, which is amazing. My skin is normally prone to breakouts and they always hang around for a while, but since I've been using Fresh Farmacy I have seen a huge improvement in my skin. I would definitely recommend this cleanser if you've got acne prone or sensitive skin.
In New Zealand it is $17.99 per 100grams, which seems expensive but it really lasts a long time so I definitely think its worth it. You can purchase it from the LUSH website here. I already know I will definitely be repurchasing this once I run out.
If you've got any other LUSH products you think I should try out let me know in the comments down below and also tell what your favourite LUSH product is.

Autumn Nails - Essie Bahama Mama
It's not even Autumn here but I absolutely love this nail polish all year round. Essie's Bahama Mama is a beautiful maroon/red wine shade and perfect for Autumn. Shown here is three coats over OPI's Nail Envy and topped with Seche Vite.
Now for a little life/blog up date. It's the middle of spring here which means that University is finished for the year, except for the last unlucky few who still have exams, which means hopefully I'll have more time to focus on my blog. I have so many post plans, they just need to be executed now. I recently saw a few other bloggers talking about blogmas on twitter and think that I might give it ago this year. I think participating in blogmas could really be the kick start my blog needs. Over the past year I've posted sporadically and never had a really plan but I want to have a proper go at it this time.
Let me know your thoughts on blogmas in the comments down below and be sure to let me know if you're planning on participating this year.

NOTD: OPI Red my Fortune Cookie
If you saw my recent NOTD post you'll probably recognise this polish. OPI Red my Fortune Cookie is currently my favourite red polish, not only is it a bright vibrant red but it is a brilliant one coater. One coater nail polishes, in my experience, are rare. Along with being a one coater, this polish lasted on my nails for three full days without chipping. I do realise three days is not long but normally my polish chips on day two or before so three full days was great. I really like this polish and am slightly annoyed at myself that I've had it in my collection for over six months without using it.
If you've got any one coater nail polishes that you can't live without let me know in the comments down below. Sorry I've been a bit all over the place recently, hopefully I'll get some sort of schedule in place soon. Hope you're having a good week!

HURRAW! Coconut Lip Balm
I have been really enjoying using this lip balm at the moment and that's saying something because I can be rather fussy when it come to my lip balms. The HURRAW! lip balms have been popular with many bloggers and have been featured in many a post.
I have the coconut lip balm but the range is huge! I really struggled to pick which to buy and I'm sure if I wasn't on a budget more would have made there way into my basket. I ordered mine from iHerb.com whilst picking up some more Real Technique Brushes. If you've never made an order from iHerb before you can use this code VPL889 to get $10 off your first order over $40 or $5 off on orders under $40.
HURRAW! lip balms are made with 'premium organic, vegan & raw materials'. I have found this one to be really long lasting on my lips and leaves them feeling lovely and soft. As I said I am very fussy when it comes to lip balms and for the past year I have been using and repurchasing the same lip balm but now this one has a permanent place in my pocket, to tell you the truth I've ran out of my holy grail lip balm and I don't plan on buying another one any time soon. I especially love the shape of the HURRAW! lip balms as they fit nicely in jean pockets and don't roll off surfaces as soon as you put them down. I am also really enjoying the scent which tends to linger for a bit after being applied, it's not too over powering and I doubt anyone else could smell it.
Let me know what you think of the HURRAW! lip balms if you've tried them and which is your favourite. Be sure to check out the full list of HURRAW! lip balms at hurrawbalm.com and don't forget when making your first order from iHerb you can use the coupon code VPL889 for up to $10 off.

NOTD: Floral and Dot
It has been a really long time since I've done any nail art but since I'm on holiday I thought I'd try get back into it. Now, there's a little story behind why I chose to do floral and dots and in this colour scheme. When I was at work the other day a lady came in with really lovely floral and dot nails in these colours and I just couldn't get them out of my head. It's such a simple design but it looked amazing on her so that's what I've tried to recreate.
I used a tiny paint brush for the little flowers and a small dotting tool for the dots. For the base colour on all by my ring fingers I used OPI 'Red my Fortune Cookie', which I think is now my favourite red. I was really surprised, as I've never used it before, to find out that I only needed one coat! I think this is probably the only one of my 100 odd nail polishes that only requires one coat. The base on my ring fingers is OPI 'My Vampire is Buff', which I also used for the dots. For the lighter colour on the flowers I used Essie 'Fiji' and for the leaves around the flowers I used Sinful Colors 'Pistache'. For my base coat I used one coat of OPI Matte Nail Envy and then one coat of ORLY Bonder. My trusty top coat is, as always, Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat.
I hope you like this design, let me know what you think in the comments down below. My next post will be up in a couple days and it will be on a new lip balm I am currently loving.

Weekly Round Up #5
This past week has been really great, it turns out a little getaway was just what I needed. I'm currently on a two week mid semester break from university so I managed to get away for a few days last week to relax and catch up with some family. I'm really looking forward to this week, being able to relax at home and on Thursday night we are going to see the Illusionists 2.0! I saw the Illusionists last year and as soon as I found out they were doing another show I booked tickets straight away and have been patiently waiting ever since. The rest off the week is going to be spend catching up on university work and relaxing.

Spring Nail Polishes PART 2 - Indie Brands
As promised here is Part 2 of my Spring Nail Polishes and this time it's my favourite indie branded polishes. Once again, I don't strictly wear these in Spring, these were just the polishes that stood out as spring like. Indie polishes are not particularly easy to get in New Zealand so I don't really have that many.
From left to right, Bliss Polish 'Mr. White', Emily de Molly 'Hole in the Sky', Jindie Nails 'burrrberry', Glam Polish 'Mermagic' and Emily de Molly 'Bo Peep'.
You can find pictures of these polishes here, here, here and here.
That's all for now, hope you're having a great week! New post will be up in a few days. Let me know what you think of my new blog template in the comments down below and feel free to tell me what your favourite spring polishes are!

Spring Nail Polishes PART 1 - Mainstream Brands
It's the first day of Spring here in New Zealand! Its raining and freezing cold but to get into the spirit of Spring, these are some of my favourite Spring Polishes. I've split them up into two posts so here is part 1 today and part 2 will be up in two days time. I don't tend to always wear these shades in spring but when I looked in my collection these were the ones that stood out to me as spring like (these are actually some of my favourites all year around). From left to right, BarryM 'Blueberry', Essie 'Haute as Hello', OPI 'Got a Date To-Knight', Sinful Colors 'Be Happy' and BarryM 'Prickly Pear'.
I've used some of these polishes in blog posts before which you can find here, here and here. Also be sure to check out my instagram, @skinny_nails, for nail art and swatches.
Check back in two days time to see Part 2 which will be my favourite indie spring like nail polishes. Hope you're having a great day or night where ever you are in the world!

Current Skincare Regime
Morning: Every morning in the shower I like to cleanse with LUSH Herbalism. I've been using Herbalism for almost 6 months now and it has been really helping with my troubled skin. Once out of the shower I like to use the LUSH Tea Tree Water. I spray this on my face and then wipe off the excess with a cotton ball. This just helps remove any grease and oils that are left on my skin. Depending on how my skin is, I will sometimes apply LUSH Grease Lightning to the places where I have a few spots, which is generally around my chin/mouth area. Before applying my make up I like to use a moisturiser and at the moment I am using Cetaphil Moisturising Lotion.
Evening: Before bed I will normally have another shower, this is when I will thoroughly wash my face to remove any make up I've had on and any grease and oils. The first thing I do is use LUSH 9 to 5 Cleanser to remove my make up. Then I will cleanse with LUSH Herbalism and then follow it up with Garnier Oily Skin Clarifying Wash. After getting out of the shower I use the LUSH Tea Tree Water. Most nights I will use LUSH Grease Lightning on any spots I have or anywhere it looks like one might be appearing.
Usually once or twice a week I will use a face mask. At the moment I have LUSH Ayesha in my fridge but I do need to get a new one soon.
Hopefully this will help some of you out. Let me know your favourite LUSH Skincare products in the comments down below.

Weekly Round Up #4
Hooray! Exams have finished and now I've got three whole weeks of holidays/work. I finished exams on Wednesday and spent the rest of the week catching up on YouTube and reading blogs.
YouTube Videos: I have a feeling this category is going to get rather repetitive if I just name YouTubers so I'm going to start sharing my favourite videos rather than just a YouTuber in general. ViviannaDoesMakeup posted a video on Multi-Tasking Beauty Bits. I've never thought of some of the things Anna shared, definitely a must watch. Hannah Maggs posted her weekly vlog, where her and her husband, Stef, tried out the blackout project for a few nights. If you don't know what the blackout project is you have to go watch their vlog, I think its a great idea but I'd probably end up using my phone within the first half hour.
Favourite Blog Posts: One Nail to Rule Them All - Tutorial Tuesday: Floral Foxes for Divine Caroline | The Black Pearl Blog - Stress-free Blogging | The Private Life of a Girl - The Book List #15
Bloggers I followed: Birds Words | Away with the Fairies | World of Wanderlust
Favourite Beauty Product: At the end of last week I got some more Real Techniques brushes. I got the Sam's Picks Exclusive Brush Set from iHerb. It comes with 6 brushes, a buffing brush, multi-task brush, pointed foundation brush, essential crease brush, setting brush and fine liner brush. This set is perfect if you don't really have any brushes and are looking for some to get you started and at only $US29.99, they're pretty affordable too. I must mention these are really good quality brushes too, if you watch a whole lot of beauty youtubers, like me, you definitely will have seen them using Real Technique brushes at some time or another.

Weekly Round Up #3
Wow, what a week. I've had two exams so my entire week has been spent sat at home studying. Pretty boring all in all but only a couple more days and it'll be all done! Once exams are over there will be a lot more blog posts so let me know if there is anything you would like me to do a post on.
Glassons.com |
Lusting After: This afternoon I decided to have a look in a couple clothing stores and saw these pants (above) which I am absolutely in love with. It's not something I would normally wear but I think they would look really nice with a simple top and cardigan. I might actually have to end up buying them later this week.
Favourite TV show: I finally sat down and started watching Orange is the New Black this week, I've only watched the first two episodes of Season One so far but it's really good! I'm happy I can finally say what all the hype is about. I finish exams in a couple days so the rest of season one will probably get finished pretty quickly!
Let me know your favourite vlogging YouTubers, what you've been lusting after and your favourite TV show this week.

Weekly Round Up #2
Welcome to my second Weekly Round Up! I've had a rather uneventful week. Exams have just started at University so I've spend the entire week at home studying. My first exam isn't till Thursday but then it's full on for a week! Only a week and a half till I am holiday for three weeks, however I do plan to work a lot during this time so it probably won't end up being much of a "holiday".
Favourite Youtuber : essiebuttonvlogs - VLUNE! I've really been enjoying Vlune, I wish it was everyday but at least I have something to look forward every second day, especially after all the studying.

Nails of the week : I did a post on the nail polish I was wearing for the first half of the week, it can be found here. I'll put a picture of my nails from the second half of the week below this. I really love them, its really simple but looks amazing. I used OPI My Vampire is Buff, Essie Haute as Hello and KBShimmer Grayscale.
Currently Lusting Over : Soap and Glory - I want to try it all! Sadly we can't get Soap and Glory easily in New Zealand but I did find the other day that MeccaCosmetica in Australia stocks it and will ship to NZ! So I might be able to get some after all.
Just a short post for this week. When I've got more time after exams I'll be taking more photos to include in these posts and adding more categories.
Let me know what you've been watching on youtube, wearing on your nails and lusting over this week in the comment section down below!

Favourite Lip Balms
Lip Balms are one of my weaknesses when I am shopping at the supermarket or pharmacy. At the moment these are my top three but I'm constantly switching them up. I have dry lips a lot of the time and am constantly applying lip balm throughout the day.
Out of these three my favourite would have to be the Carmex Classic Moisturising Lip Balm. The first time I used this I was a bit confused, as it tingles on your lips when you apply it, but after a few uses I began to like this. It has to be the longest lasting of these three, I've found it does last on your lips for a couple hours without needing to be reapplied.
I've only recently got the Vaseline Lip Therapy with Rose and Almond Oil but I've really been liking it. It's not the longest lasting lip balm but the smell and the texture makes up for this as I don't mind applying it more often. I'm also not a big fan of tins like this as you have to dip your finger in it so I tend to just use this when I am at home and know I have clean hands.
The one I have been using for the longest is the ChapStick Strawberry Lip Balm. I have been using this lip balm for years! I have bought so many of these, it has been my must have lip balm but I think this has recently been replaced by the Carmex one. However, I do still like to use the Chapstick during the summer months as it has SPF15 in it which the others do not.
Let me know your favourite Lip Balms in the comments down below!
Hope you're all having a great week, its almost the weekend! Whoo!

NOTD // China Glaze - Winter Berry
I've been loving this nail polish colour this week. It's the perfect winter colour with a winter appropriate name too! I've got really short nails at the moment and was a bit unsure about using such a bright colour but I actually love it!
China Glaze Winter Berry is a beautiful bright red. It's a perfect Autumn/Winter colour.
Let me know your favourite winter polish in the comments down below!

Mini Haul // LUSH & The Body Shop
I made a quick trip to LUSH and The Body Shop last week to pick up a couple things. I don't normally shop at The Body Shop because it is a little more pricey here in New Zealand than in other parts of the world.
I've really been wanting to try their Honey Bronzer. I know in the UK this bronzer is 13GBP, which is about NZD$25, yet here in New Zealand this bronzer costs $32.50! I've heard so many bloggers and youtubers rave about it so I'm sure it will be worth it. Whilst at The Body Shop, I also picked up one of their home fragrances in the scent Pomegranate & Raspberry. I've had my oil burner on nearly non-stop since getting this, its a beautiful fresh fragrance.
On the same shopping trip I popped into LUSH to pick up some more Tea Tree Water. This has to be my favourite toner, I have been using it daily for months now and I love it!

Weekly Round Up #1
Welcome to my first Weekly Round Up! I plan to mix up the categories I use in the weekly round up every week so let me know if there is anything you would like me to include in next weeks. I plan to have these posted every Sunday morning.
This week has been pretty busy for me, with university exams just around the corner, studying has become a big part of my day. I have manged to write a couple blog posts and get them pre-scheduled so when I'm right in the thick of exams there should still be posts going up.
Book of the week: The Luminaries by Eleanor Catton. I am desperately trying to finish this book before I start my exams and so far I am really enjoying it. Let me know if you would like me to do a little write up on it once I'm finished.
TV show of the week: Game of Thrones! I don't think that needs any explanation.
Loving this week: Applying my new L'Oreal True Match Foundation in N1 with the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush.
On my nails this week: My nails are currently really short so I have just been wearing OPI Bubble Bath.
Youtube Video's this week: Since we have just entered June it is monthly favourites time and these were my favourites

Blog Update
Today's post is going to be a quick update on my blog and what I have planned for the coming months. As some of you may have noticed I have changed my header/blog logo. I have also decided that I want my blog to go down a slightly different route.
Over the coming months I plan to begin to include lifestyle, beauty, monthly favourite and recipe posts. I will still continue to include a lot of nail posts but I want to branch out into other topics for a bit more variety. Also I think if I have other things other than just nails to blog about I can be more consistent. For example, if I'm having a bad nail week expect lots of non-nail related posts.
These are some ideas I have planned out and I'd love to know your thoughts.

- Monthly Favourites - this will include beauty, nail polish, books, movies, tv, food, clothing and whatever else I have been loving for the past month.
- Recipe Posts - this will be all different things that I have been cooking and love so much that I need to share the recipe.
- Lifestyle Posts - this will cover a little bit about my life and things that are happening at university.
- Haul Posts - these will probably not be very common because I am saving for a very exciting trip next year, but I will save up things I buy and combine them in a post together, maybe every couple of months.
- Beauty Posts - this will be posts like makeup of the day, what's in my makeup bag and my skincare routine.
- Weekly Round Up - this will be a quick general round up on my week, possibly posted every Sunday.
I'm sure there will be other random posts that pop up from time to time but this is the overall plan at the moment.

Jindie Nails - Burrrberry & Taste Like Snozberries
Hi there,
Hope you've all had a great week and have a even better weekend. Today I've got two more of my birthday polishes to show you. These are both Jindie Nails polishes which were bought from Harlow & Co.
First up is Burrrberry, a gorgeous white crelly with blue, pink and dark purple glitters. This is two coats with topcoat.
The second polish is Taste Like Snozberries, a purple crelly with loads of glitter! The glitters are pink, purple, blue, silver and white hexagons and circles in a range of sizes. This is three coats with topcoat. You could however definitely get away with two coats.
Both of these polishes are equally amazing! Due to the heavy load of glitter in both I would recommend a peel off base to make the removal a bit easier. I use a coat of PVA glue under mine and this acts as a peel off base.

Jindie Nails - Snow Angels
Hello!
Welcome to another swatch post from my birthday nail polishes! This polish has to be one of the first indie nail polishes I decided I MUST have. It is my absoultely favourite colour mixed with glitters! It is Jindie Nails 'Snow Angels'.
The base is a teal/baby blue colour and full of white, pink and dark teal hexagon glitters in a range of sizes. I have to say I'm not a big fan of the large white glitters but you can always avoid them when putting it on. For these pictures I used two coats with Seche Vite Top Coat.

Nail Art - Purple Ombre
Hello!
It's been months since I've sat down and actually written a blog post! Summer has been really busy for me, with working full time, going away on holiday & just being to tired at the end of a hot day too do any blogging. But I am back, I have just started University for this year and my timetable for the first semester is pretty relaxed, so luckily for me that means more time to do my nails & blog!
I am attempting to do Californails Nail Art March, however I am slacking a bit already since I haven't posted day 1. I did the dotticure for day 1 & when I tried to take photos of it it was too neon to get a nice photo, don't you just hate that about neons. I have posted day 4 ombre and that is what I plan to share with you in the post ( I may also chuck in a photo or two of the neon mani which failed to photograph).
This was my first time doing ombre nails but I really loved them, having only around 100 polishes I didn't think I would have enough of one colour to do a ombre but turns out I do! I actually kinda cheated though by only doing four fingers but I'm sure I could have found a fifth if I tried.
