China Glaze - When Stars Collide

Hey Everyone!

Today I have a short post for you of swatches of my first China Glaze! This is two coats of China Glaze 'When Stars Collide' (no topcoat). Not only this is my first China Glaze, it is also my first Holographic polish. When in direct sunlight this polish comes alive, it has a gorgeous holographic rainbow shimmer and is a deep purple plummy colour.

2 coats (no topcoat), direct sunlight
2 coats (no topcoat), direct sunlight
2 coats (no topcoat), shade
Holographic polishes hadn't really bothered me till I bought this one and now I know what all the hype is about. I am definitely going to be on the look our for more Holographic polishes, especially since we have just started summer here in New Zealand so we'll be getting heaps of sun to show off the holographic rainbow.

That's all for now, check out my Instagram to see a couple Christmas mani's I have done in the past week!

Distressed Nails - inspired by Chalkboard Nails

Hey everyone,

Today I have some nail art to share with you. I saw Chalkboard Nails recent tutorial for this and just had to give it a go. It was very simple and I got heaps of people asking me how I did it. If you would like to see the tutorial by Chalkboard Nails you can check it out here

I used Sinful Colors 'Snow Me White' for the base, BarryM 'Blueberry', 'Prickly Pear' and 'Grapefruit' and Opi 'Black Onyx'
I will definitely be trying this again in the future with different colours and I'd also like to try it with a matte top coat.

First Blog Post

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to my blog! I've decided to start a blog to share my nail art and nail polishes with everyone. I started doing my nails about a year ago and my collection of polishes has multiplied. I've been planning to start this blog for a while now but I decided to finish University for the year first so I could focus on it more.

So first a bit about myself, I live in Auckland, New Zealand. I have just finished my second year of a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Accounting and Commercial Law. Painting my nails has become a hobby for me to get away from my studies and be a little bit creative.
If you would like to know more about why I started this blog, my plans for it and how I decided on the name 'skinny nails', as well as a little more about myself, check out my about me page here
